No Bake Oreo Truffles
These Oreo Truffles are one of the easiest no bake desserts you can make. With just 3 ingredients, no baking, and a creamy chocolate center, they’re perfect for parties, gifting, or snacking straight from the fridge. Kids love helping with the chocolate dips and toppings. They’re always a hit at any gathering.

I usually prefer homemade cookies over store-bought, but Oreos are the one packaged treat I always make an exception for. They’re great on their own, but even better when turned into something like these truffles. I often make chocolate truffles or chocolate covered strawberries during the holidays, and these Oreo truffles have that same fun, customizable feel—except they’re way easier to make and perfect for gifting.
Ingredients You’ll Need
Oreo Cookies – I use original Oreos, but you can get creative with any flavor you like
Cream Cheese – Softened so it blends easily and helps the filling hold together
Melted Chocolate – This is for the outer shell. I love using a mix of white and dark chocolate for variety
Assorted Sprinkles – Optional for decoration, but they make these extra fun and festive (think team or holiday colors)
Tips for Best Results
Grind the oreos thoroughly – For this recipe, you actually want to grind the cookies thoroughly in the food processor until the mixture is shiny and clumps together on the sides. That’s when you know the filling is ready
Use a cookie scoop to portion – A cookie scoop helps portion the truffles evenly and makes rolling easier. It’s more consistent than grabbing with your hands and keeps things tidy.
Consider the coatings – You can use any chocolate you like: dark, white, or milk. Since the filling is sweet, dark or bittersweet chocolate adds contrast, while milk or white chocolate makes them extra indulgent. Pick based on who you’re serving and how sweet they like their treats.
How to Make No Bake Oreo Truffles:
- To make the oreo truffles, throw about 25 oreo cookies into a food processor, and chop them up well, until you get pretty fine oreo crumbs:
2. Add a half block (4oz) of softened, room temperature cream cheese and process until a big clump forms in the side of the food processor, That means it’s properly mixed and will hold together well
3. Now use a 1.5T medium cookie scoop (affiliate) to portion out scoops of the oreo mixture:
Using a cookie scoop will ensure that every single truffle is the same size. I think 1-inch balls are about perfect for serving size, but you may also use a 1T small cookie scoop if that’s what you have.
4. Roll each scoop in between the palms of your hands to shape them into small balls.
5. Place them on a parchment paper lined sheet tray, then refrigerate the truffles for 15 minutes. This helps them firm up a little bit before dipping.
6. When you’re ready to coat the truffles, melt the chocolate of your choice, and then dip the truffles one-by-one into the melted chocolate:
I usually melt the chocolate in the microwave using 30-second intervals, stirring each time until smooth. You can also use a double boiler if you prefer.
Dip the truffles into white, milk, dark, or ruby chocolate — just be sure to use real chocolate. Real chocolate chips work much better than candy melts.
Let any excess chocolate drip off before setting the truffles on a parchment- or wax paper-lined baking sheet. You can let it drip off a fork or gently scrape the bottom of each truffle on the edge of the bowl.
Topping Suggestions
You can do all sorts of different drizzles and toppings here. Here are my favorite ideas.
Sprinkles – Easy to use and always festive. Try red and green for Christmas or themed colors for parties.
Crushed Oreos – Grind a few extra cookies into fine crumbs and sprinkle over the top for texture and visual appeal
Crushed candy canes – Smash with a rolling pin and sprinkle on top for a minty holiday twist
Let the chocolate coating harden before serving. You can speed this up by chilling the truffles in the fridge for 10 to 15 minutes.
How to Serve Them
These Oreo Truffles are enjoyable both cold from the fridge and at room temperature, it’s just a different experience each way. I do not recommend keeping these at room temperature for more than 2 hours, because the cream cheese needs to be refrigerated. If the Oreo Truffles have been chilled in the fridge and you prefer them warmer, just pull them out of the fridge and leave on the counter for 30-60 minutes before eating.
If you’d like to serve a spread of bite-sized desserts alongside these Oreo Truffles, serve them with Peanut Butter Bon Bons or Peanut Butter Balls, Pecan Praline Candy, Chocolate Bark, and Peanut Brittle.
These are also great for holiday parties, cookie exchanges, and other special occasions out of the house, since they travel very well. It’s the perfect bite-sized treat that’s easy but visually stunning with all the different chocolate coatings and toppings.

Recipe FAQ and Tips
Oreo Truffles need to be refrigerated within a couple hours of making them. Place them in single layers on wax paper or parchment paper in an airtight container, and keep in the refrigerator for up to a week.
Yes, store in an airtight container for two months. To serve again, thaw overnight in the fridge, or on the counter for one hour.
Not for more than a few hours, since they have cream cheese in them which needs to be refrigerated.
Yes! Off-brand chocolate sandwich cookies like Back to Nature or Newman-O’s work well. Just avoid Double Stuf Oreos, the extra filling makes the mixture too soft.

No Bake Oreo Truffles
Ingredients
- 25 original oreo cookies *
- 4 oz cream cheese softened
- 1/2 cup chopped white chocolate for dipping**
- 1/2 cup chopped dark chocolate for dipping**
- assorted sprinkles for decoration
Instructions
- Pulse the oreos in a food processor until crushed into small crumbs.
- Add the cream cheese and process until you get a big balled clump on one side that looks very shiny.
- Use a medium cookie scoop to portion the mixture into 1 inch balls, rolling each one between the palms of your hands to create a smooth and even shape. Then put the truffles on parchment paper and refrigerate for 15 minutes.
- Place each kind of chocolate in small, microwaveable bowls, and microwave in 30 second intervals until nearly melted. Stop microwaving when there are a few small unmelted pieces, as they should melt completely with the residual heat in the bowl and some stirring. Erring on the side of the caution like this will prevent burning the chocolate.
- Dip each truffle in whatever chocolate you desire, then place back onto the parchment paper. Decorate with sprinkles or extra drizzles of chocolate, if desired.
- Wait to enjoy until the chocolate has hardened. Here are three methods with approximate timing: 1) set at room temperature for about a half hour 2) place in refrigerator for 10 minutes or 3) place in freezer for 3 minutes. Enjoy!

I had a lot of fun making these. It was a very simple recipe, and my family loves it!!!!!
If I dip them in basic melted chocolate chips will it still harden?? My food processor is tiny so if I don’t have a food processor or blender is there something else I could use to get the same texture and would mix it the same?
1- I’m not 100% sure, but I know adding coconut oil, it’ll make it set solid. You should test the chocolate chips melted on parchment paper to see.
2- For crushing Oreos, you can just finely crush them in a plastic bag, and put them in a bowl with cream cheese, it may take a little longer to get a good consistency.
Hope this helps!
Sorry for replying months later, just saw this while scrolling.
Instead of dipping them in melted chocolate, could I dip them in very fine oreo crumbs?
It’s very time consuming otherwise.
Sure? I can’t see why not. You don’t even have to dip them either.
What do you think about sticking it on a cake pop and dipping it? Would it work or would the filling just crumble??
That should work fine here.
Don’t have a food processor will a blender or bullet work?
Can you use cream cheese spread instead of the sticks? Like would it make a difference if I used a certain one?
Do you have any recommendations for a good white chocolate? The brand I purchased, even after adding some oil, was wayyyy to viscous to easily work with.
What brand did you use? I tend to like higher-end brands like Callebaut or Scharffenberger, but Guittard is great too.
I like to add confectioners sugar also. It makes them firmer and not so gooey. I just add till the are not so sticky to the touch about 2-3 cups!
If I could, I would give this recipe 10 stars and my family would probably give 20 stars. Super easy to make, presentation lovely but most importantly, they taste delicious. I made a batch using Oreo with dark chocolate filling a batch using Oreo mint.
I tried this recipe tonight. Hard without a food processor, but otherwise very easy! Thanks!

A few friends and I made these tonight for our church cookie walk. So easy and so good! This recipe is a keeper!

How to make the tempering of the chocolate even?
Hi Sam, I don’t fully understand your question. Do you mean the chocolate wasn’t smooth in texture?
It came out nice… They are not too sweet… My family liked it.. I am planning to do it again for potluck…
I loved it but the layer of the chocolate was very thin. How to thicken it
What kind of chocolate are you using for dipping?
I made once and the chocolate was too thick. How do you thin the chocolate?
Hi Merry, you can add oil to the chocolate to thin it as needed.
