Chicken Sliders
These delicious blackened chicken sliders are the exact summer recipe you didn’t know you needed! Flavorful blackened chicken tenders are sandwiched between Colby jack cheese, crispy bacon, and butter lettuce on a perfectly toasted Hawaiian roll. I love having all the ingredients on hand since they come together so quickly and are loved by everyone in the family.
These truly are the best chicken sliders with hawaiian rolls you will ever find! Enjoy!
How to make Chicken Sliders
In a large bowl add the olive oil and blackened seasoning and mix thoroughly, then add in the chicken tenders and toss to coat.
If your local grocery store does not have packaged chicken tenderloins feel free to use skinless chicken breasts and start by trimming them into tenders yourself. In a large skillet over high heat to medium-high cook the chicken pieces approximately 5 minutes per side or until cooked through and set aside to rest.
Slider assembly!
- Grab a small bowl to make your slider sauce – I like to use equal parts honey mustard and Mayonnaise to make a creamy tangy sauce. If you want to kick up the heat a little you could totally use a spicy mayo with fresh black pepper but I just love the way the honey mustard tastes here.
- Preheat your oven to 425 degrees and grab your package of Hawaiian rolls. Make sure to leave the individual rolls connected and slice the entire thing in half so you are left with one section of top buns and one section of bottom buns and place rolls onto a cookie sheet cut side up.
- Starting with the lower bun layer small bites of the blackened chicken, the cooked crispy bacon, and a slice of Colby jack cheese. Place in your oven for 5-8 minutes until the top bun is starting to toast and the colby jack cheese has melted over your bacon and chicken.
- Once you remove the cookie sheet from the oven spread the top bun with a generous amount of the slider sauce and top with plenty of butter lettuce.
Variations
- I love using Hawaiian rolls for this – they’re so easy to use and the perfect size for kids. My husband usually cuts himself off after 3 of these but sometimes if he’s in the mood for one more substantial sandwich I will use brioche buns.
- Feel free to get creative with the toppings, you could add pickles, freshly sliced jalapeno, avocado, or tomato to make this a pumped-up version of chicken BLT sliders. The options are endless!
