This delicious mojito makes use of seasonal blood oranges, for a refreshing and easy homemade cocktail! Other types of orange can be used when blood orange is not available.
Ingredients
1/4blood orange
about 15 mint leaves + extra sprigs
1shot of white rum
1/8cupsugar
1/8cupwater
club soda
Instructions
Make the simple syrup by microwaving the sugar and water until dissolved. Let cool.
Cut the quarter orange into slices, and place in a glass along with the mint.
Muddle (if you don’t have a muddler use a strong spoon) to release the blood orange juice and the flavors in the mint. Add 1 shot of rum to the glass:
Fill the glass with ice, and add about half of the simple syrup. Fill the glass almost to the top with club soda, then mix and taste. Add more simple syrup if you like it sweeter. Garnish with a slice of orange and extra mint sprigs. Enjoy!
