Muscadine Grape Picking
Instead of a Wordless Wednesday, I wanted to share my experience grape picking. These weren’t table grapes, but rather Muscadine and Scuppernong (a variant of the Muscadine family). Scuppernongs are the world’s oldest cultivated grape and are thought to originally be from North Carolina, though it is pretty widely available in the whole southeastern part of the US. The grapes were really beautiful and the flavor was SO good, with a litchi like texture on the inside. If you can get your hands on some, definitely try them!
I love those beautiful deep purple grapes peaking out of the leaves.
If you’re in the area, you might catch the end of the muscadine season and can go pick some at Vacuna Farms. If not, they will have peas in a few weeks! See you all tomorrow for a recipe =)
